Schenectady, NY – With her sixth career hat trick, senior Loren Gabel tied the Clarkson University Women's Hockey program's career scoring record in style, helping the Golden Knights cruise to a 6-0 victory over Union College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 16-5-1 overall and 7-3-0 in ECAC Hockey play while the Dutchwomen remained winless in conference play at 0-9-1, dropping to 2-18-2 overall. Clarkson faces Yale and Brown next weekend at Cheel Arena, its first complete home weekend since the Thanksgiving break.

Gabel entered the weekend trailing former Clarkson great Jamie Lee Rattray by three points on Clarkson's all-time scoring list. After being shut out in the scoring column against Rensselaer on Friday, Gabel recorded one goal in each period on Saturday, picking up her second hat trick of the season. She now has 181 career points on 95 goals and 86 assists through 142 career games. It took Rattray 147 games to accumulate her 181 career points.

Gabel was not the only Clarkson player to reach a milestone on Saturday as junior Michaela Pejzlova scored her 50th career goal, becoming the 10th player in program history to do so.

It took just a few minutes for Clarkson to get on the scoreboard on Friday, as Gabel connected while trying to make a pass to a teammate. Instead of recording an assist on the play, the puck hit the skate of Union's Cheyenne Harris and ricocheted past Coco Francis at the 4:36 mark.

Clarkson would have to settle for just one goal in the first period, but the Knights scored four times in the last 10 minutes of the second period. The second goal of the game for the Green and Gold was almost as much of a fluke as the first, as Emma Keenan was clearing the puck out of the zone during a Union power play. T.T. Cianfarano just happened to be exiting the penalty box on the clear and picked up the puck for a one-on-one breakaway, converting at 9:53.

The Knights scored two goals just 38 seconds apart for their third and fourth goals, putting the game out of reach midway through the second. Gabel deflected a shot from the blue line at 12:10 and less than a minute later an Emma Keenan pass from the left boards into the slot found Pejzlova for a goal at 12:48. Clarkson followed up with its fourth goal of the period late in the frame when a turnover allowed Elizabeth Giguere to skate in on the right side, spin, and deliver a behind-the-back pass to Pejzlova in front for the goal at 18:09.

Clarkson closed things out in the third with a goal at the 11:58 mark, when Gabel wristed in a shot from the top of the circle off the faceoff, with Pejzlova and Giguere earning the quick assists.

Pejzlova finished with five points on the night, scoring twice and assisting on three others, while Gabel recorded her hat trick and Keenan found her teammates with assists on three occasions. Marie-Pier Coulombe stopped 26 shots for her second career win and first collegiate shutout. Clarkson outshot the Dutchmen 40-26, with Coco Francis making 15 saves and Amelia Murray stopping 19 shots.
