The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team built a 7-0 lead in the first half against Fredonia State on Tuesday in West Palm Beach, FL.  However, the Blue Devils rallied in the second half and pulled out a one-goal victory over the Scarlet and Brown, 13-12.

Fredonia State improves to 3-0 on the season, while the Saints fall to 0-2.  Senior Kim Cooper led St. Lawrence with a four-point outing with a goal and three assists.

St. Lawrence dominated the opening portion of the game, taking a 7-0 advantage before Fredonia State finally broke through.  The Blue Devils chipped away at their deficit and were able to pull to within three at halftime, 9-6.

Fredonia State continued its momentum into the second half, scoring the first four goals to take its first lead at 10-9.  Senior captain Kelsey Redpath scored to knot the game at 10-10, and though Fredonia answered with two goals for a 12-10 cushion, senior Kaitlyn Fahsel and junior Paige Powell tied the game again at 12-12.  However, the Blue Devils would score the game-winning goal with 3:13 remaining and were able to keep the Saints' offense from scoring the equalizer in the final moments.

Fahsel, Powell, senior Kim Morse and sophomore Brigid Hurley each scored two goals for St. Lawrence.  Cooper, Redpath, junior Alanna Piroli and sophomore Hanne Bailey each chipped in one goal.

The Saints will look to pick up their first win of the 2011 campaign on Thursday when the team squares off with UMass-Dartmouth at 11:00am.
