FREDONIA, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam women’s soccer team was defeated 5-0 at Fredonia State. The Blue Devils (9-6, 5-2 SUNYAC) scored four goals in a ten minute stretch in the first half to break the game open.

The first score of the game came in the 24th minute as Katie Kleine found the bottom left corner of the goal off a pass from Catie Hale. Reilly Condidorio would score the team’s second and fourth goals of the afternoon and Lindsay Putnam would be the Blue Devils other goal scorer giving the hosts a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Catie Hale would score the final goal of the match, in the 60th minute. She would finish the day with a goal and three assists.

The Bears (3-9-2, 0-7 SUNYAC) were led by senior goal keeper Dedra Palmer (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) who recorded 10 saves.

“They have a few of the most dangerous individuals in the conference that are capable of breaking games open,” said Bears head coach Mark Misiak. “I talked to the girls at halftime and I was proud that they didn’t roll over.”

The Bears are back in action next weekend with two home matches to close out conference play. Potsdam will take on Brockport at 4 p.m. on Friday and then host Geneseo for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday.
