FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey captain Sy Nutkevitch (Montreal, Quebec/Cornwall Colts) has been named to the Central Hockey League’s 2012-13 All-Rookie Team. The forward is nearing the completion of his first full season with the Fort Worth Brahmas.
Nutkevitch is currently third in scoring among CHL rookies with 13 goals and 32 assists for 45 points in 60 games.
Five goals and nine assists have come the power play and his +16 rating is the highest for all first-year players in the league. Nutkevitch has also recorded three game-winning goals this season. After finishing up an All-SUNYAC campaign with the Bears in 2011-12, the Quebec native joined the Brahmas late last season and totaled two goals and three assists for five points in seven games.
In four seasons at Potsdam, Nutkevitch scored 26 goals and recorded 77 assists for 103 points. During his senior season, the forward led Potsdam and the SUNYAC in scoring and tied for eighth in the nation with 40 points (9 goals- 31 assists).
He also led the conference in assists and finished second in the country in assists-per-game (1.19). For several weeks during the regular season, Potsdam’s captain sat atop the nation’s scoring list.
Nutkevitch’s performance earned him a spot on the 2011-12 All-SUNYAC
second team.
The Brahmas are currently in third place in the CHL with a 36-19-8 record.
They have already clinched a playoff berth.
