First Year Ben Crawford scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half leading four Saints into double digit scoring on the night as the St. Lawrence University Men's Basketball team posted an 81-74 victory over Elmira College Friday night in a non-conference matchup in Elmira.

Junior Kyle Edwards led the Saints (2-4) with 17 points including a 7-for-7 performance from the free throw line all in the second half while Kyle Kobis and Riley Naclerio each added 11 points for St. Lawrence.

The Saints built an early lead on the strength of its best first half scoring of the season netting 43 points on a season-best 47.1 percent shooting from the field and the Saints defense limited Elmira (1-5) to 29 points in the first 20 minutes.

With the score tied at 13-13 early in the game, the Saints went on a 16-3 run to open up a double digit lead and took a 43-29 advantage into the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Elmira trimmed the lead to as close as four points in the closing minutes but the Saints used strong free throw shooting to seal the victory. St. Lawrence connected on 27 free throws in the game and were 18-for-22 in the second half shooting into a small but vocal student section that included a dancing alien during each free throw attempts by the Saints.

Edwards was a perfect 7-for-7 from the line in the second half, Crawford was 2-for-2, Kieran Miller was 5-for-6 and Naclerio was 3-for-5 all in the second half.
