Edkins wins Diving, Saints men's swimming finish 8th

First-year Matt Edkins was the lone individual champion for both the men's and women's Saints swimming and diving teams, as he won the men's one meter diving event at the Liberty League Championships this weekend. As a team, the Saints men's program finished 8th with 410 points.

Edkins won the one meter event with a score for 455.55 and was second on the three meter board with 480.30 points. Junior Alex Blake finished fourth in both the one meter (404.60) and three meter (413.25) events.

Senior Matt Bauer earned a top-10 finish for St. Lawrence in the pool in the 1650 freestyle, was both he and Jack Quinn picked up points for the Saints in the event. Bauer was ninth (17:57.10) and Quinn was 19th (18:38.23).

Fellow senior Grant Reeder had a pair of top-15 finishes in Saturday's sessions; placing 11th in the 200 back (2:02.86) and 13th in the 200 free (1:49.61). While first-years Robert Burke and Phillip Scott also posted a pair of top-25 finishes to earn points for the Scarlet and Brown. Burke was 11th in the 400 IM (4:32.34) and 15th in the 200 fly (2:08.72), while Scott was 20th in the 200 back (2:14.68) and 24th in the 100 back (1:01.24).

The Liberty League Championship was the final event of the semester for the Saints, who will open their spring schedule with a dual meet against SUNY Potsdam on Jan. 16, 2016 in the Augsbury Pool.
