Matthew Edkins (pictured above) dominated the 1-meter diving competition on the first day of the Don Richards Invitational at RIT, beating the field of 10 other divers by 82.5 points to lead the St. Lawrence University men's swimming and diving team on the first day of competitionl at RIT on Friday night.
Edkins, who already hit the NCAA qualifying mark in a six-dive competition earlier this season, easily beat the qualifying standard for an 11-dive competition (425) with a score of 551.25.
St. Lawrence is just one point out of third place with 142 points after Day 1. RIT leads the five-team field with 368 points, while Clarkson is second with 228. Skidmore is third with 143, and Vassar is fifth with 127.
Isaac Brinkman, Robert Burke and Cal Arnold all had top-10 finishes for the Saints, with Burke also contributing to the Saints' top relays teams.
