BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (5-5, 2-2) fell to the College at Brockport (5-3, 3-1 SUNYAC) by a 78-63 score on Saturday night. Junior guard Jayquan Thomas (Hollis, N.Y./Richmond Hill) led the Bears with 19 points. Senior guard Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Charter) and junior guard Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) finished with 10 and 11 points, respectively.

Potsdam had a slow start on offense, falling behind 8-0. Behind Devante Hagins, the Golden Eagles controlled the pace with their outside shooting. Hagins' 3-pointer at the 13:04 mark gave him nine of Brockport's first 15 points. Midway through the first half, the Eagles led 22-4. After a layup by sophomore forward Dante Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) at the 5:41 mark, the Bears were within single digits and Brockport called a timeout. Thomas hit the second three of the afternoon for Potsdam, bringing the Bears to within seven. Following the shot, the Eagles managed to go on another 8-0 run, led by Chris Atkinson's five points during the span. Atkinson's three with 49 seconds left would be the last of the half and the Eagles led the Bears 35-20 after one.

Brockport kept its foot on the peddle early in the second. A Tyler Collins steal and bounce pass to Hagins in transition brought the lead to 17, which tied for the largest lead of the game. The Bears brought themselves within 10 points after a three from the top of the key by Delsol-Lowry. It would be the closest the Bears would get for the remainder of the game as the Eagles went on another run, started by Hagins' dunk at the 5:41 mark. Both teams would shoot free throws for the remaining time, and Brockport secured the 78-63 victory.

Justin Summers put up 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead Brockport. Hagins put up 23 points (13 in the first half) and five rebounds.

Brockport shot 42 percent from the field, Potsdam shot 35 percent.

Potsdam wraps up the semester on Dec. 17, when the Bears head to LaPlume, Pa. for a 6 p.m. contest at Keystone College.
