Poughkeepsie, NY - For only six seconds of Friday night's game did the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team hold the lead, but fortunately for the Golden Knights the final three seconds were among the six as the Green and Gold won its ninth straight game with a 57-55 decision over Vassar College.

The Golden Knights improved to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the Liberty League, while Vassar suffered yet another close defeat to drop to 4-13 and 2-7. Clarkson's win pushes its winning streak to nine straight, matching the longest run since the team earned nine consecutive wins in the 1990-91 eason. Vassar has now suffered seven league losses by just a total of 28 points.

Entering the final quarter the Golden Knights trailed by 10 points after being outscored 17-7 in the third period, but the Knights rolled off a 9-1 run to start the fourth and were within two points (48-46) after a Stephanie Grobe layup at the 5:31 mark. Though Vassar would push its lead back to five points on the next possession, Clarkson completed its comeback with a pair of free throws from Madison Shea with 3:16 to go. The two teams were tied at 53-53 in the final minute when Vassar had an offensive foul called on Ariella Rosenthal with 35 seconds to go. The ensuing possession saw Madison Shea bury a jumper with nine seconds to go to give Clarkson its first lead of the contest, 55-53, but Vassar quickly countered with a jumper from Nicole Teta just three seconds later (after the ball was advanced to midcourt following a timeout) to knot the game up once again. However, Clarkson advanced the ball as well and Ashley Loggins continued her run of clutch shots with a layup with just three seconds to go fo provide the Knights with the win.

Loggins finished with a near double-double on 11 points and nine boards, while Shea tossed in 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting. Devin Sorell led Clarkson with 15 points, with six coming on two 3-pointers that made her just the sixth Clarkson player to record 50 3-pointers in a season. Clarkson's key in the contest was its ability to take care of the ball, as the Knights committed just 10 turnovers compared to Vassar's 20, with Clarkson recording 21 points off the Brewers' miscues. Rosenthal finished with 14 points to lead Vassar, going 7-for-16 from the floor, while Caitlin Drakeley added 12 points and seven boards. Nicole Teta tossed in 11 points for Vassar, going 4-for-8 from the floor.
