In an exhibition contest in preparation for the season, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team fell to visiting Concordia University 3-2 on Friday night in Cheel Arena.

However, Clarkson wasted little time in the third period, as Loren Gabel scored an extra man goal just 47 seconds into the final period to cut the lead in half. Both teams went back and forth, hoping to get the all-important next goal. Unfortunately for Clarkson, Belzile again came through, scoring her third goal with just over three minutes remaining in the contest. That insurance goal became hugely important when Ella Shelton rifled a shot home to again draw Clarkson within one goal, this time with 1:50 remaining. Clarkson continued to pressure the Stingers, hoping to tie the game, but the Golden Knights could not score before the buzzer sounded.

Clarkson finished with a 38-16 advantage in shots. Both teams scored one power-play goal with Clarkson getting five opportunities and Concordia three. Shea Tiley started in goal for Clarkson and made seven saves in a scoreless first period. Jenna Brenneman played the second period and made three saves while McKenzie Johnson had three stops in the final frame.

The Green and Gold will play their first official game of the season on September 30th when they host Penn State in a weekend series.
