Potsdam, NY – It was déjà vu all over again as Raeanna Dunn and Summer Lancette combined for 10 hits and six stolen bases for the second straight day, but this time the Clarkson University Softball team's victories came in conference play as the Golden Knights took a doubleheader from St. Lawrence, 10-2 and 9-6, Thursday afternoon at Scott Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 17-5 overall and 2-0 in league contests and will go back on the road this weekend to take on RIT and the University of Rochester. St. Lawrence fell to 8-13 and 1-3 the Liberty League.

The first game looked to be a low-scoring affair through three frames before Clarkson broke things open in the fourth and ended the game in the fifth. Lancette reached on an error in the first inning and advanced to second on the same play before stealing third and coming home on a wild pitch, scoring without the benefit of a hit. In the second inning, Clarkson picked up two more runs a little more traditionally as Bridget Woolley doubled home Ali Schwenzfeier and the scurried home herself on an infield single by Dunn to make it 3-0.

St. Lawrence scored twice in the top of the fourth inning to tighten the score slightly, albeit momentarily. Elle Gray worked out a two-out walk and scampered around the bases on a double by Emma Reakes, and Reakes scored on a double down the left field line by Abby Schlickenmayer to make it 3-2. That was as close as the Saints would get as the Knights tacked on five runs in the bottom half of the frame. Woolley doubled and came home when Katie Pelton singled and a throwing error allowed both runners to advance. It mattered little about the error, however, as Summer Lancette singled home Pelton and Jamie Bridge singled home both Dunn and Lancette to push the lead to 7-2. Bridge then finished her trip around the bases when Sara Armstrong lofted a sacrifice fly, making it 8-2. In the bottom half of the fifth, with two outs, Summer Lancette scored both Woolley and Dunn with a shot to the gap, being credited with a double as the game ended with Clarkson up 10-2.

Dunn finished 4-for-4 with a pair of runs while Lancette was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, three driven in and two steals. Woolley also posted a pair of hits in three at bats and scored three times. Jamie Bridge earned her eighth win of the year by pitching five strong innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five. For St. Lawrence, Kylee Knight and Emma Reakes each had a pair of hits.

The second game was an entirely different story for Clarkson as the team found itself down early and needed to claw back over its final five at bats. St. Lawrence scored six runs in the top of the second and looked poised to shorten the game for themselves. Kelsey Murphy delivered a bases loaded double to clear the bases and came home on a single by Knight. Mylea Mann then drove in two more runs on a double to put the Saints up 6-0. It wasn't until the bottom of the third that Clarkson finally mustered a hit. Lancette hit a sac fly to score Woolley, who had reached after being hit by a pitch, to make the score 6-1 and Bridge followed with a triple to place Dunn. Bridge then scored on a single by Liz Caggiano to cut the deficit in half at 6-3. In the bottom half of the fifth, Dunn doubled and stole third to better her scoring position, but it didn't matter as Lancette homered to right-center to make the score 6-5. Though the team had two at bats remaining to find a way to score the tying run, Clarkson needed just the bottom of the sixth to score that run, the winning run and two insurance runs. Lancette came through with a bases loaded two-run single, and before the dust had cleared she and Dunn pulled off a double steal as the plate was uncovered. Bridge then grounded out to short to allow Lancette to score for a 9-6 Clarkson advantage. St. Lawrence went down quickly in the top of the seventh on a groundout and pair of fly balls to end the game.

Dunn was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three steals in game two, while Lancette drove in five runs on a 2-for-3 effort that also included two runs and a stolen base. Bridge went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in and one scored. Meg Tully pitched the first 1.2 innings for Clarkson before being relieved by Katie Pelton, who finished off the last 5.1 innings by allowing just five hits and a walk to earn her fifth win of the season. Kylee Knight was 3-for-4 in the second game and Kelsey Murphy was 2-for-3 with her three RBI.
