On a cold and rainy day, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team fell to visiting Skidmore 2-0 on Saturday afternoon on Hantz Turf Field.
Clarkson is now 6-6-3 on the season overall and 2-4-2 in the Liberty League while Skidmore improves to 6-5-3 overall with a 3-1-2 conference mark.
In a game with few clear cut chances, Skidmore was able to take advantage of a pair in the first half. The first came 11 minutes into the game. Michael Lemnios crossed to the top of the box and Kevin Santos was the first to it. Santos flicked his first touch up and then hit a shot into the bottom left corner.
Skidmore added an insurance goal with just ten seconds remaining in the period. Off a set piece, Robbie Heumann directed a header towards the Clarkson goal and it hit the underside of the crossbar and deflected down, crossing the line for the second goal of the game.
A scoreless second half was enough to give Skidmore the win. The Thoroughbreds held a 10-5 edge in shots and a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Michael King made five saves for Clarkson while Derrick Yam made one stop for Skidmore.
Clarkson will play local rivals Potsdsm State on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
