With two of the best defensive teams in the conference matching up, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team played visiting RIT to a 0-0 draw on Hantz Turf Field on Saturday afternoon.
Clarkson's record is now 4-2-2 overall while RIT is 3-3-2. Both teams now have a 0-0-1 Liberty League record.
With just ten goals allowed in 14 games between the two teams, goalscoring opportunities were very scarce. The two teams took just four shots in the first half. As the game wore on though, both teams had chances to score. Michael King made three saves in the second half while Clarkson had multiple crosses that were just out of the reach of players in scoring positions.
After 90 minutes, the game remained scoreless and the two teams went to extra time. King made one save in the overtime while Clarkson's best opportunity to score was off a corner kick that James Homan met with a header that just went over the crossbar.
Clarkson finished with nine shots while RIT took ten. The Golden Knights had eight corner kicks with the Tigers taking six of their own. King made four saves in goal and Peter Cinibulk made two for RIT.
Clarkson will next host Vassar on September 30th.
