In a thrilling game that contained five goals and three lead changes, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team fell in overtime to Potsdam State 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Clarkson is 6-7-2 on the season with one game remaining while Potsdam closes it season with a 9-6-2 record.

The Bears struck quickly, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. The goal came when John Becker took a corner and played it towards the back post. Matthew Wagner rose up in the crowd and used his head to direct the ball into the left side of the net.

With the lead still standing at halftime, Clarkson went to the locker room and regroup. The Golden Knights response wasted little time as they were level just over a minute after the restart. Kevin Chrisey found space on the left wing and sent a cross into the box. Aiden Subra was first to the cross and scored his fourth goal of the season.

Clarkson was not tied for long though as Potsdam answered in the 48th minute. After a Clarkson foul, Patrick Mylod lined up a free kick and was able to score directly off the set piece.

The Green and Gold once again had an answer. It came in the 72nd minute. A Potsdam infraction in the Bears box gave Clarkson a penalty kick with a chance to tie the game. Clarkson's leading scorer Kevin Calnan stepped up to the spot kick and buried it to knot the score at two apiece.

With a game this close, overtime was necessary. The extra period was short lived though as Potsdam needed only three minutes and thirty seconds to end the contest. It was Wagner again scoring on a header off a delivery from a Becker free kick.

Potsdam had a slight 12-9 advantage in shots and took six corner kicks to Clarkson's five. Ian Roeloffs made his first collegiate start in goal and had two saves in 59:25 of action. Alex White relieved him and had one stop in the final 34:03. Keagan Briggs made two stops for Potsdam.

Clarkson will close out its season with a game at St. Lawrence at 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
