Senior Ben Crawford posted his second double-double of the season with 19 points and a season-high 17 rebounds to lead the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 64-50 win over Elmira in non-conference action on Friday night at Burkman Gymnasium.

Crawford, who shot 4-for-8 from the floor and 11-for-13 from the line, was followed up by classmate Dom DeRegis with 10 points and four rebounds, while Cale Sargent and Brandon Arnold both added nine. Sargent's nine points came shooting 3-for-4 from the arc, while Arnold went 3-for-6 from the floor and 1-for-3 from the arc. Riley Naclerio and Luke Hicks each grabbed seven rebounds, while Naclerio posted a season-high six blocks.

St. Lawrence opened play with a 12-0 lead over the Soaring Eagles and maintained a double-digit lead through the majority of the first half, outscoring Elmira 33-17.

The Saints kicked off the second half much like the first, a jumper from DeRegis gave the Saints a 17-point advantage with just over 14 minutes remaining. DeRegis then extended the Saints lead to 46-25, a 21-point margin with 11:57 left to play in the second.

Crawford went 2-for-2 from the line to push the Scarlet and Brown's lead to 24, their largest lead of the game. Despite Elmira almost doubling its points from the first half, St. Lawrence carried its double-digit advantage through the remainder of the second half for the win.

The Saints held Elmira, who averages 78.1 points per game, to just 50 points playing some of their best defense of the season with a combined 57 rebounds, 11 blocks and four steals.

Kyle McCreery (3-for-12) and Henry Cuffee (4-for-15) each recorded eight points for the Soaring Eagles, while Cuffee led Elmira with eight rebounds. Justin Porrett tallied four points, six rebounds and a team-best four steals.

St. Lawrence totaled 14 second-chance points, 22 fast-break points, 17 points off turnovers and 26 points off the bench, while Elmira only managed eight second-chance points and 10 points off turnovers.

With the win, the Saints improved to 5-4 on the season, while Elmira fell to 2-6 overall.

St. Lawrence will travel to Oswego, New York to take on the Lakers on Friday, December 14 at 6 p.m. before heading home for Christmas break.
