Lake Placid, NY – Senior Peter Mallery and junior Ana Witkowski posted top 10 finishes in the 1.5-kilometer sprint as both of the Clarkson University Nordic Ski teams finished third in the event at the USCSA Nationals held at Mount Van Hoevenberg.

The Golden Knights' women placed third among six teams with 22 points, six behind winning Western State Colorado University and four behind St. Olaf. Clarkson's men also finished third with 34 points, nine behind first-place Western State Colorado University and five points behind St. Olaf.

In the women's race, junior Ana Witkowski placed sixth in the final rankings and freshman Bridget Wangler was next in seventh place among the 46 participants. Sophomore Raili Utiger rounded out Clarkson's scoring by coming in ninth, giving the Knights three participants in the top 10, the only team to do so. However, Western State Colorado and St. Olaf each had two skiers in the top five to help them edge out the Knights.

Brianna Szczech ended up in 28th overall and Kathryn Bartosik took 31st.

On the men's side, Peter Mallery placed seventh in the final rankings among the 57 skiers to pace the Knights. Classmate Brian Chrzan came in 12th and Michael Giraldi was one spot lower in 13th to finish the Knights' top three performers. Austin Gillespie (15th) and Timothy Dunn (17th) also finished in the top 20, while Ben Longenbach narrowly missed placing in the top half of participants by coming in 30th overall.
