Winter Haven, FL - Senior Justin McInerney (Grand Island, NY) had four hits and drove in six runs and classmate Vince Baldwin (Catskill, NY) delivered a gritty pitching performance as the Clarkson University Baseball team earned a 13-5 victory over Oneonta State at the Chain O Lakes Complex.

The Golden Knights evened their record at 2-2 overall, while the Red Dragons fell to 2-2. Clarkson will face the SUNYAC's other Red Dragons on Monday when they face Cortland State.

Clarkson started where it left off on Sunday offensively, scoring three times in the first inning. The Knights loaded the bases when McInerney stroked a two-run single to centerfield. Two batters later, freshman Dan Lenney (Clifton Park, NY) lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Jerry Coleman (Potsdam, NY). Though Oneonta came out ripping the ball as well, Baldwin quickly settled in, scattering some hits yet coasting through the lineup with minimal damage.

The Knights opened the game up in the third inning with seven runs on seven hits as 11 hitters stepped to the plate. McInerney, David Kinney (Mexico, NY), and Lenney came through with three straight run-scoring hits to push the score to 6-0 before Jarred Mattingly (Philadelphia, NY) added a safety squeeze bunt to score another. Garrett Russell (Lake George, NY) forced in a run with a bases loaded walk, and Coleman plated two with his second hit of the frame.

Oneonta ended the shutout in the bottom of the third inning with a run, but Clarkson edged out to a 12-1 lead in the fifth thanks to a two-run single from McInerney. In the eighth, McInerney added a run-scoring double to his day's resume to make the score 13-1. Baldwin gutted through the final inning to save Clarkson's bullpen to finish off the victory.

Baldwin finished with a career-high nine strikeouts in his complete game effort and walked just one. At the plate, Coleman reached base in all six plate appearances, going 4-for-4 with two walks, three runs scored and a pair of RBI. McInerney went 4-for-6 with six RBI, and freshman David Wixted (Ballston Lake, NY) was 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
