In their return to the arena in which they won the 2014 NCAA Championship, the fifth-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey fell to fourth-ranked Quinnipiac 1-0 on Friday night.

The loss ends Clarkson's streak of 21 straight ECAC Hockey regular season games without a loss. Clarkson now holds a record of 9-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in ECAC Hockey play. It was the first loss for any of the current Golden Knights at the TD Bank Sports Center.

"You knew coming into the game that tonight was going to be a defensive battle between two good teams and that is exactly what happened," said Clarkson head coach Matt Desrosiers. "Both teams exchanged a few scoring chances here and there but both goaltenders and team defenses didn't allow very many second or third opportunities. Hopefully next weekend if all things align we can get another crack at them in the Nutmeg Classic Tournament."

After a scoreless first period, Quinnipiac (10-0-1, 5-0-0) netted the game's lonegoal at 13:39 of the middle frame when Emma Woods scored her fourth goal of the season. Clarkson would have its chances in the final period, but was unable to tie the score.

It was the first time the Golden Knights had been held without a goal since the March 9 of this year, a span of 16 games. Quinnipiac held a 19-15 advantage in shots. Both teams had a single penalty, but neither team was able to score during the man-advantage period.

Freshman Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) posted 18 shots in the Clarkson net.

Clarkson will travel to Princeton tomorrow for a 4:00 pm game.
