Rochester, NY - Despite three chances in the final 30 seconds, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team came up a point short against King's College Saturday afternoon, falling 77-76 in the consolation game of the Chuck Resler Tournament held on the campus of the University of Rochester.

The Golden Knights saw their record evened at 2-2 on the season. Clarkson will look to get back on the winning track following the Thanksgiving break when it plays Potsdam State on December 2nd.

It took four-plus minutes for King's to make its first shot against the Knights and by that point Clarkson had jumped out to a modest lead. However, the Knights would push their advantage to as many as 12 points (25-13) at the 5:49 mark following an Ashley Loggins (Albany, NY) lay up. Though the Monarchs would briefly stop Clarkson's run, it took a 5-0 run in the final minute to bring King's back within single digits by the half.

King's pulled to within one point and claimed its first lead since its free throws in the opening minutes at the 15:48 mark on a lay up by Kayla Fearirheller, but Clarkson jumped back out to a five-point advantage at the 13:28 mark when Cara Manfredi (Glastonbury, CT) nailed a 3-pointer. The two teams would jostle back and forth for the next six minutes, and a Stephanie Grobe (White River Junction, NY) jumper at the 7:29 mark gave Clarkson a four-point edge (66-62). King's responded with a small run and captured the lead 67-66 on a Kasey Seitz lay in. Clarkson regained the lead at 1:27 on an Ashley Loggins lay up (75-74) and the Knights added another point to their advantage when Grobe made a free throw with 54 seconds left. However, the Monarchs' Kayla Fearirheller buried a 3-pointer with 31 seconds to go to take a 77-76 lead. The Knights missed a shot on the ensuing possession and, following a missed free throw by King's, would get two more chances at the rim in the waning seconds but couldn't come up with the go-ahead basket.

Loggins finished with 23 points (10-for-24 shooting), 12 rebounds, and a pair of steals en route to being named to the All-Touranment team. Grobe tossed in 17 points and contributed seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Manfredi also scored 12 points and chipped in four boards and four assists and freshman Madison Shea (Clifton Park, NY) scored eight points (4-for-5 shooting) to go along with four assists.

For King's, Katie Dugan made six 3-pointers in her team-best 20 points while Fearirheller (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Jennifer Fabian (10 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles. Olivia Hoffman also added seven points and 12 boards and Kasey Seitz produced eight points and eight assists.
