Plattsburgh, NY - Junior Chrissy Scanlon (Queensbury, NY) matched her career-high with 21 points, but a scoreless stretch in the final minutes of overtime left the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team a point short against Plattsburgh State, as the Golden Knights fell 64-63 Tuesday evening at Memorial Hall.

The Golden Knights dropped to 3-7 overall, finishing off the non-conference schedule. Clarkson begins Liberty League play this weekend when it travels to play Vassar and Rensselaer.

The Cardinals scored the first basket of the game, but Clarkson ran off eight straight points in the next four minutes and the Knights were able to hold the lead throughout the remainder of the half, closing with a two-point edge, 25-23. Plattsburgh tied the score up with the opening basket of the second half, but the next few minutes were all Clarkson, as the Knights went on a 11-0 run, and held a 10-point advantage with 9:57 remaining (41-31). Over the next three and a half minutes, the Cardinals went on a 13-2 run, taking their first lead since the opening bucket of the game.

While Plattsburgh had completed its comeback, the Knights found themselves trailing by five points with 1:55 remaining. However, Clarkson tied the score up and sent the game to overtime. There, it appeared as if Clarkson had rediscovered its momentum, taking a three point lead with 2:37 left in overtime. However, the Knights' offense stumbled and was unable to score for the rest of the game as Plattsburgh sunk a pair of baskets to take a one-point lead. The Knights had their chances late, as the Cardinals could not put the contest away, missing all five of their free throw attempts in the final 24 seconds.

Scanlon had a game-best 21 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the field and 7-for-11 from the free throw line. Noelle Miller (Hamburg, NY) also tossed in 10 points, while seniors Lauren Pluchino (Liverpool, NY) and Sierra Noles (Averill Park, NY) had solid all-around games. Pluchino had eight points, nine rebounds, three steals, and three blocks while Noles had nine rebounds and six assists.
