ROCHESTER - It has become almost an annual refrain in recent years, but it needs to be repeated as newsworthy: the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team and the University of Rochester played to a double-overtime scoreless tie, 0-0.
It is the third straight year that neither team could capture a score.
The Golden Knights moved to 2-1-1 overall, extending their unbeaten streak to three straight games since a season-opening loss to Houghton College. The tie was Rochester's first blemish of the season (4-0-1).
The last time either team scored in the series was in 2007 when Rochester won, 1-0. Since that goal, the Yellowjackets have not scored against Clarkson in 416 minutes, 20 seconds.
The Knights' last goal versus Rochester dates back to 2006, a span of 420:04 when Justin Crowley scored on a penalty kick in the waning seconds of that contest.
