With six games remaining in the regular season the Clarkson University Hockey team will look to string together some wins in its bid to lock down one of the top four spots in the ECAC Hockey standings. The Golden Knights, who have gone 4-4 in league play during the new year, will host Harvard and Dartmouth this Friday and Saturday at Cheel Arena. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. both nights.

Guided by third-year head coach Casey Jones and assistants Phil Roy '00 and Andy Jones, Clarkson is tied for fourth place in the conference with a 10-6 conference mark. The Green and Gold are six points out of first and three points from falling to sixth place. Ranked 14/15th in the national polls, the Knights own a 17-11-2 overall record.

Clarkson Hockey will be hosting Minor Hockey Night at Cheel this weekend. Any minor hockey player under the age of 14 who wears their jersey to Friday's game against Harvard or Saturday's game against Dartmouth will receive free general admission to the games.

The Lil Knights Club will be partnering with the Clarkson University Hockey teams to help raise donations for the Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project at upcoming Golden Knight games at Cheel Arena in February. The Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project raises funds and awards scholarships for deserving children to participate in various activities throughout the North Country community. The Lil Knights will be collecting donations for the project in the Cheel Campus Center lobby during the Golden Knights' Men's game against Dartmouth on Saturday, February 15.

Clarkson skated to its second consecutive weekend split in ECAC Hockey action this past Friday and Saturday. Playing its second straight game against a Top-5 team, the Knights fell behind early against third-ranked Quinnipiac on the Bobcats' home ice at High Point Solutions Arena and despite battling back lost 6-3. Clarkson salvaged a split on the road with a 4-3 victory over Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink in New Jersey.

The Knights were down 2-0 in the opening 74 seconds at Quinnipiac, but tied the game with two quick goals in the first 78 seconds of the second period. Boasting the second most potent offense in the country, the Bobcats, who enjoyed 11 power-play opportunities in the contest, outscored Clarkson 4-1 in the remainder of the game to gain the victory at home. The Knights were strong on the penalty kill, allowing Quinnipiac just one power-play tally.

Playing in their NCAA-high 21st one-goal game of the 2013-14 campaign, the Green and Gold held leads of 2-0 and 4-2, on Saturday and held off a stubborn Princeton squad to earn their 13th one-goal victory of the year. Four different Knights scored goals in the road win, capped off by senior Allan McPherson's (Kinburn, ONT) fifth game-winner of the season at 5:10 of the third period. Freshman Steve Perry (Ligonier, PA) picked up his eighth victory of the year in the Clarkson goal with a 34-save effort, including 16 stops in the third period.

McPherson and classmate, captain Ben Sexton (Kanata, ONT) share the Clarkson scoring lead with 23 points each. McPherson has netted a team-high 11 goals, while Sexton is the Knights' top playmaker with 17 assists.

Harvard, which won 6-2 against Boston University in the consolation game of the Beanpot Tournament on Monday, posts an 8-12-3 overall record and has won two games in a row for the first time this season. Guided by 10th-year head coach Ted Donato, the Crimson are in 10th place in the ECAC Hockey standings, two points shy of eighth, with a 4-9-3 conference mark. Harvard is 2-4-2 in away games.

Dartmouth, guided by 17th-year head coach Bob Gaudet, comes to the North Country with a 4-16-3 overall record and a 3-12-1, 11th-place ECAC Hockey mark prior to Friday's game at St. Lawrence. In its only action last weekend, the Big Green were shut out at Harvard 3-0 last Friday. Dartmouth's last win was a 5-3 victory over Princeton on February 1. Dartmouth, which started the 2013-14 campaign with eight straight losses, is 2-6-1 on opponents' home ice.

The Series:

Clarkson has won two of its last three meting against Harvard to take a one-game lead, 52-51-1, in the all-time series, which began with a 2-1 Clarkson win in Lake Placid on December 28, 1935. The last two Golden Knight wins against the Crimson have come on the road, including a 2-1 victory in Cambridge on November 9. Harvard, however, has won the last four meetings in Potsdam.

The Knights snapped a five-game losing skid in the series with a convincing 5-1 victory at Bright Hockey Center on January 25 in the first meeting last season, but the Crimson won in Potsdam 6-2 on February 23. Clarkson's last win at home against Harvard was a 3-1 victory on November 13, 2010. The Knights are 14-10-2 all-time against the Crimson at Cheel Arena.

Allan McPherson, who scored the game-winner with two minutes remaining in the teams' first meeting this season, has a team-high seven points (2-5) against Harvard in nine games of the series. Matt Zarbo (1-5) has six points and Joe Zarbo has scored a team-high three goals. Ben Sexton is the only other Knight with multiple goals (2) against the Crimson. Greg Lewis has played 169 minutes in the series, posting a 2-1 record on a .890 save percentage and a 2.84 goals against average.

The Golden Knights hold an overwhelming 68-25-7 advantage all-time in the rivalry against Dartmouth, which began with a 4-1 Clarkson win on February 4, 1929. Clarkson has won two in a row over the Big Green, including a 3-2 win in Hanover, NH on November 8.

The teams split their series last year with each winning impressively on its home ice. The Big Green won the first meeting of the 2012-13 campaign, 5-1 at Thompson Arena on January 26. The Knights answered back on February 22 with their second consecutive 4-0 shutout over Dartmouth at Cheel Arena. The Knights, who also shut out the Big Green on November 19, 2011, hold a 16-3-3 advantage over Dartmouth at Cheel. The Big Green's last win in Potsdam was a 7-1 triumph on November 12, 2010.

Allan McPherson (2-3) and Ben Sexton (1-4) have both recorded a team-high five points against Dartmouth. Classmates Alex Boak and Jarrett Burton also have scored twice against the Big Green. Greg Lewis posts a .942 save percentage and a 2.02 GAA through 178 minutes in the series.

The senior center is closing in on the Century Mark with 39 goals and 55 assists through 138 games … Sophomore Jeff DiNallo (Aurora, ONT) continues to impress in his sophomore season as the Knights' third leading scorer. He tallied a power-play goal in the win at Princeton and has nine goals and 18 points after posting four points (2-2) in his rookie campaign … Senior Jarrett Burton (Echo Bay, ONT) scored a goal in both games over the weekend for his first tallies since January 10. Burton has eight goals and 13 points on the year … Clarkson's fourth-leading scorer, senior Will Frederick (Allison Park, PA) has eight points (2-6) over the past eight games and 17 (5-12) for the year … The Knights' defensemen had productive offensive games from the blueline over the weekend, accounting for two goals and three assists … Freshman James de Haas (Mississauga, ONT) tallied a power-play marker and an assist at Quinnipiac. He has 10 points (3-7) playing in 28 games … Junior James Howden (Edgeley, SASK) scored his second goal in three games from the blueline after recording just one goal through his first 26 games. He has three goals on the year with his first coming as the game-winner in the 5-2 victory over Mercyhurst on October 12 … Sophomore Paul Geiger (Stouffville, ONT) leads the Clarkson defenseman in scoring with 14 points (5-9) … A. J. Fossen (Maple Grove, MN), who tallied an assist in both games over the weekend, leads the Knight freshmen in scoring with 11 points on four goals and seven assists … Playing in only his second game of the season, senior Mike Garlasco (Mahwah, NJ) recorded an assist in the win at Princeton … Sophomore Christian Powers (Carlisle, ONT) also earned a helper at Princeton for his second assist of the season and third of his career … Freshman Troy Josephs (Whitby, ONT) was back in the Clarkson lineup for the weekend games after missing the previous seven contests with an injury … Freshman Ville Runola (Raisio, Finland) earned his second NCAA start of the season for Friday's game at Quinnipiac. Perry has played in 15 games with a .915 save percentage and a 2.16 goals against average en route to an 8-5-2 record with three shutouts … Sophomore Greg Lewis (Mars, PA), who last played on January 25 in the 3-2 loss at Cornell, has started 14 games and posts a .893 save percentage, a 2.63 GAA and an 8-5 record … Sophomore forward T.J. Moor (Lake St. Louis, MO) has withdrawn from the University for personnel reasons. He played in 17 games this season recording two goals and three assists. Moor, who joined the Knights midway through last season, posted 15 points (6-8) in 36 career games.
