Canton, NY – With the best team round of the season, the Clarkson University Golf team currently resides in first place at the midway point of the North Country Shootout after 18 holes at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

The Golden Knights shot 297 as a team and currently lead the pack of six squads. Clarkson will serve as host for the final 18 holes when all the competitors head down Route 11 to play at the Potsdam Town & Country Club, scheduled for a 9:00 am start on Sunday.

All eight Clarkson golfers shot 80 or lower despite some less than hospitable conditions. Senior Thomas Conroy carded a season-low 71 and was closely followed by junior Chris Rust's 72. Senior Brad Belote shot 76 while sophomores Cameron Anthony and Mike DiPaola scored 78 and 79, respectively, to round out the Golden Knights' team of five.

Three Golden Knights also played well at the Appleton Golf Course. Sophomore Steve Dillon shot 75, classmate Jonah Miller scored 76, and freshman Zach Pilarchik finished with an 80.
