Chestnut Hill, MA – Antanasia Chambers posted her first double-double including a season-high 12 rebounds as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team earned a 69-59 road win at Pine Manor College on Friday.
Chambers finished with game-highs of 22 points, 12 rebounds and five steals, while Tatiana Laroche tied a season-high with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting to go with five rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists. Randi Conway posted 13 points and Taylor Saltus added 11 points and tied a game-high with four assists.
Shaquanda Middleton paced the Gators (4-9) with 20 points, while Erica Jones (13) and Kayleigh Merrell (11) also scored in double figures.
The Roos (6-8) jumped out to a quick 23-12 lead after the first quarter that included nine points each from Chambers and Laroche. SUNY Canton extended its lead to 42-26 at intermission.
The Gators got within nine early in the fourth quarter but that was as close as they would come as Canton cruised to the double digit victory.
The Roos shot 45 percent from the floor compared to 37 percent for Pine Manor. Canton held a 46-37 advantage on the glass.
These two teams will have a rematch on Saturday at 12 p.m.
