The race, which offered teams a preview of this year's NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional course, attracted a very competitive field, with 10 nationally-ranked teams competing. SUNY Geneseo, the top-ranked team in the nation, won the meet with 71 points. Fifth-ranked MIT was second with 127 points, 11th-ranked Rensselaer was third with 168, 20th-ranked Haverford was fourth with 184, 18th-ranked NYU was fifth with 216, and St. Lawrence, competing without senior captain Joe Smith, was sixth with 277 points.
Sidi Abdoulaye was 19th for St. Lawrence, finishing in 24:08.0, Benjamin Fishbein was 73rd in 24:51.7l, Patrick Mortensen was 90th in 25:01.1 and Jonathan Mitchell rounded out the top-five in 103rd place, crossing the finish line in 25:09.8. Logan Mancuso (115th, 25:19.5) and Dadley Ogetii (128th, 25:25.4) were also in the top-seven for the Saints.
"Today was a great chance to see the regional course and some of the top competition from five of the eight NCAA regions," said head coach John Newman '94. "I thought we matched up pretty well with the teams we expect to compete with at regionals in another month."
St. Lawrence will take next weekend off, then heads to Geneva, N.Y., for the Liberty League Championships on Oct. 29.
