Canton, NY – Tyler Bullard scored his sixth goal of the season as the Roos outshot visiting Bryn Athyn 37-21 but a 36 save night from McKenzie Chalmer lifted visiting Bryn Athyn College to a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening period as Bryn Athyn held a slim, 9-8 edge in shots. The Lions (8-11-1) got on the board first at 1:36 of the middle period when Connor Buick tipped the puck to Brycon Johnson in the Roos defensive zone and he beat the Roo goaltender Austin Washkurak top shelf for the 1-0 lead.

The Roos (7-16-2) had a great chance with 13 minutes left in the middle period as Joe Deveny and Tyler Ralph skated into the offensive zone 2-on-1. Deveny's shot was initially stopped by McKenzie Chalmer and then went off the post and Ralph shot on the rebound was covered by Chalmer.

The Lions had a great opportunity to double their lead on a 3-on-2 early in the third period but Washkurak made an incredible diving save to his right to keep the Roos within one. Bryn Athyn added a second goal on a nice cross-ice pass in front of the crease from Nikita Smirnov to Tanner Congdon who finished into the open net. Johnson also earned a helper on the play.

Canton pulled the goalie for the extra skater with 2:56 remaining and the Roos got one back with 17 seconds left when Tyler Bullard fired the puck toward net that deflected off a Lions defenseman and in. Joe Deveny and J.P. Langlois earned helpers on the play, but Canton was unable to tie it up in the final seconds.

Washkurak made 19 saves for the Roos, while Chalmer turned aside 36 shots for the Lions.

This closes out the 2017-18 season for the men's hockey team.
