The St. Lawrence University men's basketball dropped a 71-50 decision to Bates College on Saturday in the second day of the Chuck Resler Tournament in Rochester, NY.

The Saints fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 2-1.

The Saints jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, but forward Alex Gallant helped the Bobcats take control of the game as they held a 38-23 advantage with under 2:00 minutes to go in the first half.

A 3-pointer by junior Garrett Sharlow with 39 seconds left in the first cut the deficit to 10 as the half came to a close with Bates holding a 38-28 advantage over the Saints.

After the half, Bates extended its lead to 50-35 before a 3-pointer by junior Terry Parham and two quick baskets by classmate Ralph Temguoa brought the Saints to within eight, 50-42. The Scarlet and Brown, however, could not combat Bates' scoring as three Bobcats tallied double digits and the team finished shooting 57.4 percent from the floor including 52.9 percent from behind the arc. Gallant, Brian Ellis and John Squires combined for 42 points as the Bobcats downed the Saints 71-50.

Parham led the Saints with a career-high 18 points, followed by Temguoa and Sharlow who added 12 and six rebounds and 11 points and seven rebounds, respectively.

St. Lawrence will look to bounce back from a disappointing weekend on November 30th as they host Plattsburgh State. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm in the Burkman Gymnasium.
