Canton, NY – Visiting Endicott College scored twice in the opening 64 seconds to secure a 5-1 Colonial Hockey Conference victory against host SUNY Canton on Friday afternoon in the Roos House.

Endicott jumped out to a quick start scoring two goals in a 19 second span over the first 1:04 of play. Caroline Hughes deked left to right on a breakaway and scored over the glove side of Illie Berisha (Lake Ariel, PA) just 45 seconds in. Meredith Vlachos made it 2-0 Gulls 19 seconds later on her second of the season. Lauren Yakush and Courtney Walpole assisted the score.

The Gulls (9-6-3, 5-1-1 CHC) had a shot fire off the crossbar midway through the period and Maggie Layo made it 3-0 scoring top shelf over the blocker off a rebound. Lexi Klein and Hughes assisted the marker as Endicott led 3-0 after one.

Klein added her second point of the night scoring on a deke from right to left at 17:31 of the second to help the visitors open a four-goal advantage after two periods of play.

Just 1:06 into the final period Rachel Lustenring netted her third of the season on a wrist shot from just inside the blue line that eluded the glove of Berisha.

SUNY Canton got one back with 2:19 to play as Whitney Bernier (Newport, VT) put home a rebound off a shot from Reagan Lynn (Chicago, IL) that was initially saved. Anna Lagzdina (Ozolnieki, Latvia) also earned a helper on Bernier's third of the season.

Vendela Jonsson stopped all 24 shots she faced in her seventh win of the season, while Berisha turned aside 28 shots in the loss for SUNY Canton.

These two teams will have a rematch on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Roos House.
