POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team will be holding their annual "Dig Pink" game against SUNY Canton on October 22 at 7 p.m. The team will be supporting the cause by wearing pink jerseys during the match.
The game will help to raise awareness and funds for the Side-Out Foundation. "Dig Pink" games will be played by teams of all levels, all over the country throughout the month of October. The Bears are taking part in the event to help promote awareness of breast cancer, while raising money to find treatments for patients with the most advanced form of the disease, stage 4. The game will also honor the memory of those who have lost their battle cancer.
The volleyball team will be selling t-shirts at Barrington Union in the days leading up to the game. Students can use their Bear Express cards to buy the shirts. The team will also be accepting donations. All proceeds to go to the Side-Out Foundation. The foundation awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing services to breast cancer patients and their families.
The SUNY Canton game marks the Bears' final home game and will also be the team's Senior Day. The Bears will honor Gabby Arana (Williston Park, N.Y./Herricks), Sharon Ofori (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy), Tia Wright (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal), Annie Smith (Chateauguay, N.Y./Chateauguay) and Liza Fields (Duanesburg, N.Y./Duanesburg) before the start of the contest for their achievements at SUNY Potsdam.
The Bears are back in action this weekend, when they travel to Cortland to face Oswego State on Friday evening at 7 p.m. Saturday, Potsdam will battle SUNY Geneseo at 10 a.m. and Fredonia State at 3 p.m.
