PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—THE SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (19-14, 2-6 SUNYAC) wrapped up conference play with 3-0 losses to SUNY Cortland and Oneonta State at SUNYAC Pool Play.
Against Cortland (33-1, 8-0), the Bears fell 11-25, 11-15-25, and 17-25. Sophomore outside hitter Erin Wagner had two serving aces for Potsdam.
“We were able to work some players in from the bench, but we didn’t execute well enough to beat them,” said Bears Head Coach Steve Pike. “Our young player did well in the third set.”
Against the SUNYAC’s other Red Dragons (15-19, 4-4), the Bears were more competitive, but fell by scores of 17-25, 20-25, and 22-25. Sophomore outside hitter Dakota Pruiss led Potsdam with eight kills and 12 digs. Junior libero Jillian Dye posted 17 digs.
“We didn’t create enough offense to win the match,” added Pike. “But our passing and defense was pretty solid. Liza Fields passed well and played good defense.”
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel across town to face Liberty League Champion Clarkson.
