GORHAM, MAINE—The SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (5-7) had its largest offensive showing of the season, hitting double-digits in a 10-4 win over Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon. Four different Bears had three-point games and sophomores Ken Simon and Dan McCamey and freshman Matt Thompson each scored two goals.
Thompson put Potsdam in front for good just 1:38 into the contest. Eight minutes later junior assistant captain Adam Place made it 2-0 on the power play. Troy 
Thibodeau got the Huskies back within one with a shorthanded marker at 17:12. The Bears carried the 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Junior forward Zach Blake scored a power-play goal 1:08 into the second period and Thompson struck again just 28 seconds later for a 4-1 advantage. Southern Maine got their second goal on the power play at 13:35 as Daniel Mattson made it a two-goal game. With just three seconds left Simon notched the eventual game-winner and Potsdam led 5-2 after 40 minutes.
The Bears exploded to double their score in the final stanza. Freshman forward Mike Riley lit the lamp 37 seconds in to the third and McCamey made it 7-2 43 seconds after that. Simon got his second at 4:40 and sophomore defenseman Max Fogel scored a power-play goal at 6:50 for a 9-2 lead. McCamey got his second tally and the Bears' 10th sandwiched between two final Southern Maine goals to close out the scoring.
Potsdam freshman goalie Austin Keiser made 23 saves to earn the fourth victory of his career. Three Huskie goalies saw action during the game. Josh Hillegas started and allowed four goals and made 13 saves in the first 21:36. Michael Gendreau allowed three goals and on eight shots over the middle 19:44. Patrick Farrington closed out the game for Southern Maine between the pipes, allowing three goals on 12 shots.
Senior captain Matt Viola (0-3-3), McCamey (2-1-3), Blake (1-2-3) and Riley (1-2-3) each notched three points for the Bears. Sam Guimond led the Huskies with two assists.
Potsdam is off until Friday, Jan. 4 when they travel to Castleton State to face the Spartans at 7 p.m.
