And once the first story was debunked, state police say he told another story that was also untrue.
Troopers responded Thursday afternoon to 29 Mechanic St. in Norwood for a report of a burglary resulting in an injury to a male victim.
Damien Delfosse, 20, told police he came home at about 1:55 p.m. and heard someone in his upstairs room. He told them he grabbed a knife and walked upstairs to confront the intruder. Delfosse alleged someone was in his bedroom and that the two were involved in an altercation which resulted in Delfosse sustaining a laceration to his left shoulder.
Later Delfosse recanted his first allegation, and then told troopers he was in a fight with an individual earlier in the day resulting in the injury. That was determined to be false as well, state police said.
Delfosse then admitted he lied about both incidents and had provided a false statement. He admitted he sustained the laceration from an unrelated event.
Delfosse was arrested and charged with one count of providing a false written statement and two counts of third-degree falsely reporting an incident.
He was arraigned in the Potsdam Town Court where he was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, or $2,000 bond.
