LAWRENCEVILLE -- A North Lawrence man who was partially ejected from his vehicle was killed in a rollover accident Friday night.
Victor D. Richards, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood.
State police received a call about the accident at about 10 p.m. and responded to the scene on Ferris Road in the Town of Lawrence.
The investigation revealed that a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was traveling southbound on Ferris Road when the vehicle went off the west shoulder, striking guide rails, state police said. The crash caused the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its roof. Richards, the operator and sole occupant, was partially ejected.
Wood responded and pronounced Richards deceased. He was then transported to Massena Memorial Hospital by Tri-Town Rescue.
Following an autopsy performed by Jefferson County Medical Examiner Dr. Samuel Livingstone, the cause of death was determined to be massive head trauma consistent with an automobile accident.
Coroner Wood determined the manner of death to be accidental.
He is to be buried Wednesday at Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson.
