Massena police using social media to catch people with outstanding warrants

MASSENA -- Massena Police are now soliciting the public’s help via social media in finding people wanted on warrants.

On Saturday evening, they posted 10 wanted posters to their Facebook page showing each suspect’s name, age, address, physical description and mugshot. All are sought on allegations of failure to appear in court.

That yielded them one suspect in less than 12 hours.

On Sunday morning, police arrested Brian J. Rookey, 45, and charged him with failure to appear.

A second post with the word “CAPTURED” superimposed had been “liked” 110 times as of late Tuesday morning.

Police say they will periodically update the page with more warrants.

“New warrants will be added frequently. This is just a small portion of the open warrants/bench warrants that our agency has,” Massena Police Department commented on their Saturday post showing the 10 suspects.

The Massena PD Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/MassenaPolice/?fref=ts .

The Department asks anyone with information to call them at 769-3577.
