GOUVERNEUR – A Gouverneur woman was arrested for welfare fraud Tuesday following an investigation by the Investigations Unit of the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services.
St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies say they charged Erika J. Desormeaux, 27, with third-degree welfare fraud after receiving $3,099 that she was not entitled to.
Desormeaux allegedly failed to accurately report household composition and household income to social services, deputies said.
She reportedly received benefits from Dec. 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012 that she was not entitled to.
