More vaccine arrives, H1N1 clinic in Canton Thursday

CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department says it received another shipment of H1N1 vaccine late Monday, and a clinic has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Human Services Building on route 310 in Canton.
The department will be administering the vaccine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The department will be immunizing
• children 2 - 17 and young adults 18-24. Children 24-35 months will get the nasal spray form only. • people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age • healthcare and emergency medical services personnel • Persons aged 25 - 64 who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from flu including cancer, blood disorders (including sickle cell disease), chronic lung disease (including asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), diabetes, heart disease, kidney disorders, liver disorders, neurological disorders (including nervous system, brain or spinal cord), neuromuscular disorders (including muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis), and people with weakened immune systems (including people with AIDS or those who are receiving chemotherapy).
The department says H1N1 clinics are going to be conducted in all school districts and colleges throughout the county. More information on these clinics will be coming soon, they say.
