To the Editor:
I am a volunteer at the Hopkinton Library and know all about budget crunches and having to pinch pennies.
Our budget comes from the town taxpayers only, as we are not a chartered library, we are a “Reading Room.” But, we provide computer use, interlibrary loan, great books in most genres to our community. One idea, which we have used in Hopkinton, is to browse the available used bookstores for purchases. The Paperback Browser in North Lawrence and The Birchbark Bookshop in Parishville provide good, used books for affordable prices.
I encourage all area libraries to check out local bookstores. This could save money in tight times.
