GardenShare’s Annual "Cabin Fever Trivia Night" was held on March 10, 2018. A record-setting twenty teams took part in the event and answered questions about cooking, food sport puns, cultivars and more.

By the end of the evening, we had raised over $3,000 to support GardenShare's work to solve the problem of hunger and strengthen local food systems in St. Lawrence County!

The winning team from Canton called themselves Kohlrabi is for Closers. Second Place went to The Well-Bred, Garden Fed Orebed Bipeds team. Daylight Savings Time Travlers took third place, while The Wood Burners placed fourth. The prize for the Best Team Uniform went to The Oni’s, who were all dressed as various pasta. There was also a prize for the Best Team Name, which went to “We Thought this was Speed Dating.”

Presenting sponsors who helped make this event possible included St. Lawrence Health System and Stauffer Farms. With additional support from Sandstone Dentistry. Lauren Rosenthal, a reporter for NCPR, acted as this year’s Master of Ceremonies.

Thank you so much to the amazing volunteer committee that organized this event and demonstrated the difference that a small group of people can make. An additional thank you to all of the local farms and businesses who donated made this event possible and demonstrated their commitment to building a strong and vital community where people care about each other. It's great to be part of such a strong place.

Thank you to the local businesses that donated winning prizes to the event, including: 1844 House, Big Spoon Kitchen, Jake’s on the Water, Jernabi Coffeehouse, Canton Apples, Maple Run Emporium, Parishville Center Orchard. Additional thanks to the businesses that donated food to the event including: Big Spoon Kitchen, Deep Root Farm, Kent Family Growers, Pat and April’s Pork, Potsdam Food Co-op, Purple Rice, Nature’s Storehouse and Smith Farm Chicken.

Funds raised will support GardenShare's work to solve the problem of hunger in St. Lawrence County. GardenShare's annual Local Food Guide, farmers market promotion, and promotion of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) help ensure that the County has a vibrant, local food system where our food choices are healthy for us, for our communities, and for the environment and where local farmers are able to make a living that supports their families. GardenShare also makes it possible for people to use Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at area Farmers Markets and helps low-income families buy CSA shares so that everyone in the County has access to enough nutritious and affordable food to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
