To the Editor:
I 'm a retired Alcoa electrician, who has played by the rules in this great country of ours. I graduated from high school with my Regents diploma, went in the U.S. Navy, did my four years, worked 32 years at the same job, paid my taxes, paid my bills, and stayed out of trouble.
I as a veteran, have never bragged about being a veteran, but I have donated my time after retirement from Alcoa to be a commander of my local American Legion in my home town for the last 8 years.
My post helps our community with donations to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, high school scholarships and many other functions. But our main objective is our veterans, who have given their all to this country. Of course helping them out financially or others ways is subject to our state and federal government not getting in our way.
Please leave the post 9/11 GI Bill alone unless you can improve it, for this will put more stress on our veteran organizations and cause us to re-examine our loyalty to a number of you great Americans who think you run this country.
Its time for you politicians to act and do right by the real people that got you where you are today: the veterans.
