To the Editor:
I would just like to extend a sincere thank you to the woman who helped me safely escape an angry dog early last week. As I was cycling down Morley-Potsdam Road, a rather irate boxer charged across the road, barking and growling, barely giving me enough time to get my bike between me and it.
There was no way I was going to out cycle this clever dog as she spotted me far before I had come in front of her house. After being stuck standing in one spot for minutes, the owner emerged from the house, looked at me, and silently went back in.
The dog remained, barking and growling, trying to get around my bike to get to me. It took the generosity of a complete stranger to drive, at walking pace, with her car between me and the dog, to allow me to get far enough away so that I could continue home without the threat of being chased or bit. I am very appreciative to have experienced such kindness from a passerby.
