St. Lawrence Valley Horsemen’s Association shows go on thanks to volunteers

To the Editor:

The St. Lawrence Valley Horsemen’s Association (SLVHA) started their season with a combined jumping and game show in June.

July 3 and 24 were two open shows at our grounds in Ogdensburg on Linden Road. We have great family oriented shows for all types of rider and horse combinations. We rely on volunteers to keep our shows going.

Family members step in to set up jumping, games and trails.

We wish to thank Chris Sellers, our president, for always being there when needed. Brenda and Aurora Murray for everything they do from weed whacking the grounds, fixing things, donating gift certificates for first show, Aurora as ringmaster and always helping.

Thanks to the Cook and Edson families who take care of the jumping classes. We also appreciate Larry Simzer for working up the rings before shows, Skelly Contractors for maintaining the pumps. Also thanks to Carol Edson, Anita Morrill and Carla Trimm.

The games are run by Marcia Oney with the help of the Bush family and members.

Thanks to Lillian Pitts, Mary and Tanner Fonda, Beth Reynolds, Mr. Degon, Mr. Mayville and Danise Gratton.

We have three open shows on Aug. 21, 28 and Sept. 10. Hope to see lots of spectators.
