Republicans mean ‘no’ vote in Congress

To the Editor:

In local elections I sometimes vote Democrat; sometimes Republican. Several years ago I sometimes voted Republican in national elections. But not now.

It seems to me that every time President Obama and the Democrats propose legislation that will be good for the country the Congressional Republicans vote an automatic and unanimous ‘no.’ They are destroying the spirit of bipartisan compromise that works to benefit all of us, and any Republican elected this November will just be one more ‘no’ vote in Congress.

This is one reason I’m supporting Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, and working to return Bill Owens to Congress. Owens has been reasonable, responsible representative of Northern New York. He has a record of job creation and, as a member of both the Armed Services Committee and the Agriculture Committee, has supported Ft. Drum and fair milk prices for farmers. He is a supporter of green energy. He is careful with money. He has voted against raising the ceiling on the national debt, and thinks that the Bush tax cuts for wealthy people should expire. He deserves our vote.
