Raise colon cancer awareness by wearing blue March 1

To the Editor:

The Colon Cancer Alliance’s National Dress in Blue Day program takes place on Friday, March 1 as part of National Colorectal Awareness Month.

Dress in Blue Day is held annually in communities throughout the nation as a way to show support in the fight against colon cancer.

This year, I’m wearing blue in support of Dress in Blue Day to promote colon cancer awareness and to talk to people about the disease.

It’s important to me because it saved my mother’s life and I want to save the lives of others by talking to them about colon cancer.

Why should this be important to you?

Because one in 20 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer. By wearing blue, we can raise awareness about this disease and how it can be prevented through screening.

By talking about this disease and getting people to recognize the importance of being screened, we will create a future free of colon cancer.

Save a life.

Talk to your family and friends about colon cancer…and get screened…please.

Respectfully submitted,

Michele Pelusi-Catlin, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center
