To the Editor:
I have just returned from shopping at Price Chopper in Canton. I started shopping at Price Chopper in Ogdensburg when P&C closed and have since shopped at their Potsdam location as well. Now P&C was not perfect but at least I knew the store manger (in Canton) and he was often in the store and available.
I couldn’t tell you who manages any of the three Price Choppers I have mentioned. What I am aware of is that every week that I have shopped at Price Chopper locations I have found mistakes on my receipt.
I have been overcharged for produce, bought items that were marked on sale only to find out later that I had paid full price. When I have pointed out mistakes, I have been refunded my money; not the point. I shouldn’t have to do this.
At first I wrote it off to new stores and perhaps inexperience but it continues. I see sections of shelves that are empty of items I usually purchase for weeks at a time. Unfortunately there are few choices for grocery shopping. I don’t like Walmart and Hannaford in Massena is a good store but too far to drive each weekend.
I would hope that Price Chopper management would address these issues and I am more than happy to discuss them with their managers at any time. Until then, I and others should pay close attention to our receipts. I will see you next week for another refund.
