To the Editor:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; I would like to thank the local Price Choppers in Canton, Massena, and Gouverneur areas for partnering with the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department’s Cancer Service Program (CSP).
During the month of October, the Price Choppers allowed the CSP program staff to hand out information on the importance of cancer screenings. The Price Chopper employees wore “Ask Me” aprons, and buttons and the cashiers handed out a paper that explained the importance of “Early detection saves lives!” This shows me the commitment that Price Chopper has to our community.
Our program is for women 40 and older who have no insurance, or their insurance does not cover annual breast cancer screenings. Call us to see if you qualify for our program.
If you are a man age 50-64 you may be eligible for a take home kit that checks for colon cancer.
Remember, there is a program in our County for those who do not have health insurance, and we are here for you. Call today 368-2325 and ask for the cancer screening program. Early detection saves lives!
