To the Editor:
What an incredible year this has been for the Potsdam Snack Pack Program! Because of the fantastic support and overall generosity of the community, we provided healthy snacks and lunch items to more than 160 Potsdam Central School District students on the weekends. Our committed volunteers prepared a total of 5,728 snack packs from September 2017 through June 2018.
In addition to all the private donations, we saw an increase in the level of support from local businesses and organizations. Thank you to: Agway, Big Lots, BJ's Wholesale, Boswell Construction, Canton-Potsdam Hospital, First Crush Bistro, Gamer Craze Entertainment in Canton, GardenShare, Great Northern Printing, Inspired Healing Salon and Spa, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Legendary Loot, Make A Difference Day Committee (Riverview Correctional Facility), Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, New Hope Community Church, North Country Crusaders, North Country Savings Bank, Office of Disabilities, Potsdam Kiwanis Club, Potsdam Lions Club, Potsdam United Methodist Church, Price Chopper, Sacred Heart Academy in Queens, Stewart's Shops, SUNY Potsdam Women's Softball team, The Knight Club (Clarkson Ice Hockey Boosters) and T. Rowe Price Program for Charitable Giving.
We also received tremendous support from the college community, especially the fraternities and sororities from SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. A heartfelt thanks to the family and friends of Mr. David Williams for donations made in his memory.
Last but not least, special thanks to UPS Potsdam, Save a Lot, and B99.3/Star 100.1 for the very successful food drive in May to help us “Finish the Year Strong!”
My heart is filled with gratitude as I think about all the people who contributed in some form or fashion to keep this program going so we can serve our local students. Thank you for caring!
