Potsdam Central candidate Hubbard vows to work for betterment of schools

To the Editor:

I just wanted to remind everyone to please get out and vote in the Potsdam Central School Board of Education Election.

I am asking for your support in this campaign because I feel it is important to elect people with the desire and willingness to tackle the difficult budgetary issues with the best interests of the students and employees of Potsdam Central School at heart. Someone who understands the everyday financial struggles they face.

Providing an education that is far above the minimum standards is what we, as a community, should be striving for. Our students deserve it!

The activities that they enjoy; music, athletics, clubs, social groups, are a vital part of their education and their intellectual and emotional development. The academic standards are something that should never be forsaken for the purpose of cost cutting.

It is time that the people with the ability to affect change put our heads together and come up with a better and more creative solution.

Doing “More with less” is becoming the standard in today’s economy and it is something that cannot be ignored. The employees of the Potsdam Central School district and the excellent students that attend the elementary, junior high and high school deserve our best efforts.

So on Tuesday May 15, please go and vote, vote for candidates who will work for the betterment of our schools and our children’s education. Vote for me #3 (on the ballot).

James Hubbard, Potsdam
