The 7th grade ELA and science classes are doing a project about plastic in our ocean. After reading the book “A Long Walk to Water” by Linda Sue Park, our class was inspired to raise awareness about our valuable resource: Water.
We wanted to find out what happens to plastic when it enters our ocean. Our class decided to create a series of posters and presentations in order to inform the community about the ongoing global problems our world is facing.
We have had a group of students go to restaurants to talk to them about reducing the amount of straws they use. We also talked to our school cafeteria about them stopping the use of straws. One group asked stores what they do with the plastic grocery bags they use.
If you’re looking for a place to return plastic bags, return them to Walmart. Better yet, try using reusable bags.
We are hoping that you could help us spread the word about the movement.
