To the Editor:

Primary season is in full swing. Political candidates for the upcoming November 2018 election are busy trying to convince the registered voters in their party that they will have the best chance to win election in November.

Occasionally, the truth is stretched or skewed. Fortunately, for those of us who live in the 21st Congressional District, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has kept her promise of transparency so we can actually see what she has been doing on our behalf.

The Congresswoman promised transparency when she was elected to office and she has kept that promise. You can click on the "Issues" tab on her website for information on any specific issue you are curious about. As a matter of fact, this February the Congresswoman was selected as a finalist for the Congressional Management Foundation’s (CMF) Democracy Awards Program in the category of Transparency and Accountability.

Letters to the editor have size constraints so I will limit myself to just two more important North Country issues: Military and agriculture.

The 21st Congressional District is home to one of the largest populations of veterans in New York State. If I tried to list every individual bill that Elise has sponsored or cosponsored or supported for our veterans or our military, this letter would be too long. So here is a link to a bundle of legislation she helped pass that aids our veterans https://stefanik.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/stefanik-supports-package-legislation-help-our-veterans.

Agriculture is very important to our North Country economy and to Elise. She has been fighting to rework the "Margin Protection Program" which would provide a much needed safety net for dairy producers. She also re-introduced the Precision Farming Act to encourage the construction of rural broadband to farms by allowing for the reimbursement of costs. If you visit https://stefanik.house.gov/issues/agriculture-0 you will be able to read an overview of the bills the Congresswoman has introduced or supported to help our farmers.

Congresswoman Stefanik walks the walk. All of her legislative votes, along with explanations, are posted on FaceBook within 24 hours. Her calendar and the House schedule are posted on her website so constituents can share their opinions on upcoming votes.

Elise sponsors/supports military & agriculture legislation important to the 21st Congressional District. She deserves to be re-elected in November.
