Opinion: Potsdam Elks call 'Sweet Treat Drive' a success

To the Editor:

The Potsdam Elk's Lodge Sweet Treats for Soldiers Candy Bar Drive was a huge success. i would like to thank the following businesses for their support and helping us exceed our goal.

We collected 10,451 candy bars and 51 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

Potsdam; Kinney Drugs, Canton; Kunoco Food Mart, Colton; Kunoco Food Mart, Parishville; Kunoco Food Mart, Russell; Kunoco Food Mart, Waddington; Kunoco Food Mart., Canton; Lavigne's IGA of Potsdam; Lawrence Avenue Elementary School; Sy. Lawrence Centre, Massena; North Country Insurance Professionals; Parkway Express (Tim Horton's), Potsdam; Potsdam Kiwanus Club; Potsdam Paper Mill; Salmon River Varsity Club; Sports for Cancer (Keleher Family); Truck Stop #9, Akwesasne; Zysik Dental, Massena donated toothpaste and toothbrushes.

A heartfelt thank you to every individual who donated.

I would also like to thank our local media 101.5 The Fox, My Mix 96.1, 1340 WMSA, B99.3, Daily Courier Observer, North Country Now, the Watertown Daily Times, and WWNY TV for their amazing coverage of the candy bar drive

Most importantly to all the North Country people who dropped a candy bar into the box or money. you made a difference in a returning soldier’s life. Without you this could not have been possible. Thank you.
